Literacy Coach

Position Overview
The Reading League is looking to build upon its team of Literacy Coaches in New York State. A Literacy Coach will be responsible for providing support to school district staff as they expand their knowledge and implement practices reflective of the Science of Reading. The Literacy Coach serves as the literacy content expert and provides high-quality interactions with adult learners.
General Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to school district staff as they expand their knowledge of the Science of Reading
- Analyze data, identify trends, and support teachers to adjust instruction based on data
- Monitor interventions conducted by the classroom teacher and support lesson preparation
- Support grade level teams as they plan for whole group instruction and intervention sessions
- Model exemplar lessons
- Provide mini-sessions that review the professional development presented by The Reading League
- Serve on a variety of committees as a resource and respond to the needs of school district staff
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in education, preferred
- Strong foundational knowledge of the Science of Reading
- Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities including collaboration, planning, delegation, and program administration
- Dynamic and charismatic team player
- Ability to envision and convey The Reading League’s mission
- 3-5 years of successful instructional experience in schools preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Google Workspace, and Zoom
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences including teaching staff and school leaders
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel
