The Reading League, a Syracuse-based national nonprofit, announced the hiring of Soledad Calvino as director of public relations.

Calvino will lead the organization’s national media strategy and shape public relations campaigns to amplify its mission and impact.

She joins the team at TRL’s headquarters at 103 Wyoming St. in Syracuse.

Calvino has more than a decade of experience translating complex science and public policy into accessible messages. Prior to joining The Reading League, she held communications and public affairs roles across the federal government, specializing in media relations, crisis communications, and stakeholder engagement.

She holds a bachelor of science degree in psychology from the University of Central Florida and a master of public and international affairs from the University of Pittsburgh. Calvino currently resides in Melbourne, Fla.

Founded and headquartered in Central New York, The Reading League has grown from a local grassroots movement into a national nonprofit led by educators and reading experts dedicated to advancing evidence-aligned practices in classrooms across the country and around the world. Through professional development, resources, and strategic support, TRL empowers educators and school leaders with the knowledge and tools to deliver effective reading instruction grounded in the science of how people learn to read.
