Educator Preparation Program Community of Practice

The Reading League hosts monthly virtual meetings for faculty from educator preparation programs. During these meetings, expert presenters, including researchers, authors, and higher education faculty, present highly engaging and relevant content for the group. Additionally, participants share resources such as sample syllabi and course outlines, offer feedback and advice, and discuss challenges.

When: Second Friday of each month, 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. ET

English Learners/Emergent Bilingual Community of Practice

TRL invites professionals who support English learners/emergent bilingual students to attend a collegial monthly meeting online to discuss research, articles, and readings about language and literacy needs. Former guests include Linnea Ehri, P.D. Pearson and Rob Tierney, Elsa Cardenas-Hagan, Sylvia Linan-Thompson, and David Share—and our future guests promise to be equally engaging and knowledgeable.

When: First Friday of each month, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. ET

State Education Agency Literacy Leader Community of Practice

This monthly community of practice is for literacy leaders working within state education agencies. Each month, experts provide presentations relevant to those developing and enacting statewide guidance and policies. Topics include research on language and literacy, statewide efforts presented by model states, coaching, implementation, supporting the literacy needs of special populations, assessment, and legislation. This monthly meeting also allows leaders an opportunity to network, share successes, and ask questions to role-alike colleagues.

When: Third Friday of each month, 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. ET

Researcher/Publisher Community of Practice

This invitation-only quarterly community of practice brings together literacy researchers and publishers who have agreed to TRL’s curriculum review process. Researchers share the latest insights and best practices publishers can apply to curricula.

Path Forward Initiative: New York State Educator Preparation Program Community of Practice

Join colleagues across New York State in a monthly Community of Practice, hosted by the Path Forward Initiative, dedicated to advancing the Science of Reading in educator preparation. This ongoing Community of Practice focuses on the Science of Reading components outlined in the NYSED Framework & Baseline Reflection.
