Transform Literacy Outcomes with a Trusted Professional Learning Partner

Build the knowledge, leadership, and implementation capacity needed to turn evidence-aligned literacy practices into lasting classroom change.

Knowledge Is Only the Beginning

Advancing literacy starts with understanding the science of reading – but meaningful change happens when educators have the knowledge, support, and confidence to put research into practice.

That’s where The Reading League comes in.

We partner with schools and districts to transform research into sustainable instructional practice that improves reading outcomes for students.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs for School and District Leaders
School systems come to The Reading League (TRL) when they’re navigating real implementation challenges and are moving beyond awareness of the science of reading to coherent, confident classroom practice in an aligned system. Below are the questions school and district leaders ask most often when considering a partnership with us.

WHAT A PARTNERSHIP INCLUDES

Every partnership opens with a session for leaders, led by our expert team, all of whom have experience implementing the science of reading and the science of learning in schools. This session builds leaders’ knowledge of evidence-aligned literacy instruction and creates space to ask questions about implementing that learning effectively in your specific setting. We support not just individual educators but the systems around them, helping schools and districts build the structures, routines, and shared understanding needed for lasting, system-level change. From there, professional learning sessions follow a flexible scope and sequence, customized to your school or district.

After each professional learning session, districts receive a follow-up virtual hour with our science of reading experts to support implementation of what was just learned. This looks different for each school but always includes resources that school leaders can use immediately to continue their learning. Examples of support our current school partners ask us for are one-on-one virtual meetings to work through implementation challenges and members of our team joining staff or PLC meetings as needs arise throughout the year.

We collect de-identified reading assessment data from partner schools. This gives your district leaders in-depth analysis of where students stand and allows us to tailor our professional learning to your school or district’s specific needs rather than offering a one-size-fits-all program.

WHAT MAKES THE READING LEAGUE DIFFERENT

No, we do not sell curriculum programs or assessments — and this is one of the most significant differences between TRL and other providers. Instead, we leverage our Curriculum Evaluation Guidelines in our work, drawing on the research to illuminate where programs are strong or where they need to be bolstered. TRL is curriculum-neutral and focused on building educator and leader knowledge to effectively use their current curricular materials or to become critical, confident consumers of the curriculum marketplace.

Not directly. Our partnerships provide support, including coaching, for your leaders and instructional coaches rather than TRL staff coaching classroom teachers one-on-one. The goal is to build lasting capacity within your own team.

EXPERTISE YOU CAN TRUST

Our science of reading experts bring authentic experience in implementing the science of reading as educators, coaches, and school leaders. They are supported and trained by The Reading League’s national literacy leadership, which uses a proven approach informed by work with districts across the country.
